Howl Away Dog

<<play the tune>>

As I was walking through the field
Night was falling the way it does at the end of a lazy summer day
When some crazy dog in a private game
On a distant hill was doin' his best to chase the moon away
Howl away dog, howl away.

So I stopped to turn my head to hear
As the echos danced across the valley the way echos do
When the evening air is very still
And I had to smile as I walked along
Cuase I really likedhis sense of humor
It made me feel right at home
I'm gonna return the favor sometime soon
Yes, I will, howl away dog, howl away

And its been so long
Yes, I see the stars are up there shining unlike yesterday
When the breeze came along like an old friend
Said, "I see you are back from the city,
You've a smell about you I'm gonna clear it away.
Yes I will, yes I will."
Howl away dog, howl away

And it all was like an elusive dream
When I should be waking soon
Get out of bed it seems, go to my job
Just maybe this times its really there
With my soul in hand at an empty mirror
I saw my freedom vanish in the glare of sleepy eyes
And a face that only stared

Let it never be.
Not again, no more for me
It's gonna end.
I'm gonna clear my head
Yes I will, and howl away my friend
Howl away dog, howl away.
